Hi
I want to get rid of my home phone as nobody really calls me and those that need to contact me (family, friends etc) could call my mobile or email and write to me. They only have to make a quick call or text and I am happy to call them back for a chat.
Trouble is I still need a landline to connect to BroadBand internet and Sky TV. I know theres Freeview but we watch channels that sadly cant be accessed on Freeview. We arn't in a cable area unfortunately. We access the internet a lot so doing it other than landline would prove too expensive for us.
Can it be done? Whats the best and cheapest way?
Thanks

You don't need a landline to have Sky TV (unless you have multiroom).
However, unless cellular broadband in your area gives you sufficient speed and reliability for a low enough price, you will need a landline for ADSL broadband.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

We do currently have multiroom and Sky +

In which case, you need a working landline and both/all Sky boxes need to be connected to it at all times in order for you to continue to receive the reduced subscription on the multiroom box(es).Crisp_£_note wrote: »We do currently have multiroom and Sky +
So, you need the landline to:
(1) keep your Sky subscriptions down and
(2) to retain ADSL broadband.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. So considering I already have Sky and need to be connected is my better option to switch to a combination package with Sky adding BradBand and Telephone to my existing Sky + and Multiroom?
If so any ideas what deals there are at the moment, how much it is likely to cost per month, how long it will take for transfers to be complete and would I experience any disruptions?
Thanks
