I have installed IE8 yesterday and since then - it locks up / freezes when i have multiple pages open.
I then have to close IE and start again.
I also installed service pack 2 for vista prior to this.
Any ideas or should i dump IE?
If so what other browser, I have used Firefox, but what about Chrome, Opera etc

Do you have any add ons installed, and does it still freeze when running with Add-ons disabled through the start menu?0

Spybot still causes problems
Id suggest resetting IE 8 ~
Reset internet explorer
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.:idea:0 -

Hi, this is Feran with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team. If disabling unnecessary add-ons or resetting did not work, you may want to try a reinstall – this has helped many people with similar issues.
Let me know if this works,

Forget IE8. I tried it when first got released, suppose to be just as fast as Firefox(one i was useing). It was crap and very slow and like you i got alot of crashes.
Firefox on other hand is superb and is amazing when watching videos or films online, the pages load quicker and no crashes. Stick with Firefox:cool:
Edit: Whatever you do don't use Google Chrome it's worse than IE8!!0 -
FireFox for me to - much better browser.
If you really want to use the IE engine then try Avant - much better and quicker than IE.0 -

Whilst browser choice is down to personal taste, In my experience I have found IE7 To be slow, and Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome to be relatively fast.
Firefox has very good compaltibility for websites, though on occasion I have to use IE Tab which places an IE session within a Firefox Tab (Linky)
Im yet to try IE8 Though.0 -
I got so fed up with IE8 that I downloaded Google Chrome. I actually like it better than IE and wish I'd installed it ages ago.
Give it a go...you can always uninstall it!0
