ATM Withdrawal Refunded?

I used my HSBC card at a Natwest machine earlier today. I withdrew £10 and received my £10 from the machine.

About an hour after this, I received a call from a freephone number which belongs to HSBC. Wasn't in to receive the call.

Just logged onto my internet banking and seen the payment has been processed as normal, but then there is another transaction showing as "12 Jun CR ADVISED 10.00"

It would appear that they have refunded the transaction for some reason. This isn't one of those "can I keep the money" posts, but instead I'm just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar before I contact HSBC.

well I had £50 which came out of my account once and I used a barclays machine, I had to contact my bank to put in the claim and I got the money refunded the next day and it said the same thing but I did have to contact them first.

Call them and see what they say, if there was a fault with the machine, maybe it was done automatically? I dunno

'ADVISED' is a manual payment that is processed at the bank.

Send them a secure message via internet banking to ask them to bring up the details of the credit and they will be able to tell you what it relates to.

I've just heard back from HSBC and this payment was paid into by account as compensation for a problem I had with my account. Must have just been a coincidence that it happened almost as soon as I'd withdrawn money from the ATM.
