BT exchange

Recently I moved home and wanted BT to activate the landline at new address. BT has sent technicians twice and every time they didn't come but told me that my line has been connected to wrong exchange and I need to ring customer service to deal with this issue. Frankly, I don't know what to talk as this is purely technical problem, and totally out of my control. It seems service advisors were more confused when I rang BT because they also knew nothing to do, only arranged to send more technicians who won't come to my home at all!!! Anyone who has such experience please give some advice, thanks~~

A couple of questions, does your new address have a conventional postal address, 8,Anystreet, Anytown ,NE11 7UT. type of thing as your
Service Provider needs the correct address to match the address to the correct exchange .
New builds ( plot 11 wimpey delevopment, or things like Rose Cottage, Leafy Lane can be hard to match to the correct exchange.
Did you try to bring a number with you from your old address, it may be impossible for you to have that number from the local exchange
that serves your address
The people who visited you were Openreach , and so as to be seem to be even handed between all Service Providers they will refer you to speak to your chosen SP to resolve any problems, so they dont get accused of favouring BT Retail by sorting out problems for BT Retail customers and not bothering for customers of Sky, Talk Talk, etc,etc.0 -
Thank you, iniltous. There is a BT socket at my new address and what I need is just to let BT reconnect this line. This building has existed more than 20 years, so I don't think BT has no record about it. My provider is always BT and I didn't ask for reserving my previous number, they allocated me a new number. The technicians didn't show up at all just gave me a call, that's all.0

If you already have a BT master socket and a working line in, they don't need to visit the property. They will just reconnect you at the exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop
