Flipping natwest surveys!!

We asked for the full very expensive survey and they have done us the standard one. My partner still wants to full survey to be done (i'm not bothered to be honest) and Natwest are saying that if we want to full one done, even though they have taken the cost of the standard one, we have to pay full whack again.

Why should we? we asked for the full one to be done, why can't we pay the difference between the two??

Ask to speak to a manager and if that gets you nowhere, tell them you're going to file a formal complaint.

You could also try approaching a different surveyor -- I don't think you have to use your lender's preferred surveyor for a structural survey.
  • Thanks for all the advice... no one has rang me and we specifically asked for the full survey..... My boyfriend is very nervous about buying (little bit OCD) so he wanted everything to be covered, which is fair enough. I will be ringing again later!!

Definitely. let us know how you get on. I got a courtesy call last night so thought it was standard procedure.

Hi - I had the same problem with the Abbey. The agreed to pay up to £1100 for a valuation/survey but only did the basic when we wanted the homebuyers within in that budget (could have pushed for Full Building's survey!!). They didnt do it and told us it didnt need doing. We had to pay for an independent to do the Homebuyers. There were no issues but we needed peace of mind.
