Any Service + MOT deals in Manchester for Astra owner?

I am struggling to find a service (w/o MOT) under £100 locally. I have a 1999 Astra and am happy to go with an independent. The cheapest I found is my local Vauxhall dealer, but I just do not trust their servicing ... it looks like nothing is done apart from the oil change. They do not even take the wheels off to swap them around. Plus, if I have the MOT with them, I only have 24 hours to get any work done elsewhere and take it back for a free retest if it failed. I would not like to have them do any repairs as they are usually about 50% more expensive than the local independent.
I know very little about cars, so a DIY job is not an option. There is a local that does oil change for £10 - £20 and I am actually tempted to go for it instead.. but if I miss a service stamp in my service book, will it affect the value of my car when I resell it?
Thanks in advance.

Where in Manchester are you?
With regards to a 1999 car - I really wouldn't be too worried about missing a service history stamp in a car that age providing you kept the receipt for the service to prove it has been done.

tbh, I doubt you will find a service for under £100. I rang around locally in Stafford and the cheapest quote I got was £119.99 with Nationwide Autocentre .. and then used £5 of clubcard vouchers to get £20 off that. So I suppose that was a service for £105.
My service book is all over the place, in the middle of ownership some git didnt service it for 20,000 miles so I dont need to get it the stamp ... I just like knowing my car is looked after!-highguyuk-0 -
National tyres and autocentre do a basic oil and oil filter change for £10, the oil is Duckhams hypergrade 15w 40. for £15 they do the same but with Duckhams qxr semi synthetic 10w 40. I presume your car is petrol, so the £15 change would be more than adequate.
You are right about main dealers though, they are a bunch of rip off merchants with no pride in their work and I still wonder why anyone uses them, especially when the car is out the 3-year warranty.0
