Sorry, I've not heard of those. Have you tried putting your details into a comparison site?"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Curry_Queen wrote:Do I bite the bullet and sign up with nPower? ... bearing in mind I am then locked in with them for a year to benefit from the discounts they offer
I`m also looking at npower to get away from pgen.
I went to their site today https://www.npower.com to compare their prices to those on the search sites and they were the same.
I would assume that as it`s the 2nd of April and the new prices took effect yesterday that the prices on their own site are up to date.(am I expecting too much)
One search site gave the discount at the end of a year as £63 but on their own site £42.
I take this to mean there`s a one off discount of £21 for new customers and after your second year the discount would remain at £42.
Visit their site and click on "our prices"to se for your own area.
This whole system of comparing prices is a right shambles, which is exactlly what the providers want.
UPDATE
Been back to the npower site and if you take duel fuel the discount says £60 a year in arears.
For prices in your area it states from 10th March.
Confusing to say the least.
Do I assume some prices went up on 10th March and others 1st April?
https://www.tescoenery.com gives the discounts as £63 --- £21 x 3
£21 for electric,£21 for gas and £21 for duel fuel.
What a bloody shambles!!!!!!!!!0 -
It seems more like being in the depths of a jungle than embroiled in a mere shambles. With changes taking place at all sorts of intervaks, I wonder how an intelligent logical chice can be made or how the comparison sites can avoid giving some duff gen.
Would theat the regulators step in and set some rules like setting icommon ndustry wide dates for tarriff changes say at a minimum of six months apart.0 -

From what I've ascertained over various sites, the tariff for the "sign online SOL4" ... which is the one I'm looking to switch to and gives me the biggest savings ... has been unaffected by yesterday's price increases, so the prices you see as of 10th March are the correct ones.
I must say the discount is a little confusing though as the comparison sites quote £63, yet nPower's own site quotes £60, payable at the end of 12mths
I think I've more or less decided to switch to them, so just have to decide now which comparison site to do it through! ... decisions, decisions LOL!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Seeboard are now part of EDF (Electricite de France) so try searching for that.
I'm with Seeboard and London Energy for electricity and gas, both are EDF companies, but I get separate bills, they have different phone numbers and yet the same customer service department holds both accounts on one computer.
I've given up with the comparison sites; the results are too inconsistent to be meaningful. I had signed up for npower at the Ideal Home Show, but cancelled the agreement next day when they announced a 13% price increase.
Anyone found a comprehensive, reliable price comparison site yet?0 -

Could be that the comparison sites include vat at 5%, whereas the companies do not. That's someting to think about when doing calculations.0 -
Well, I've gone and done it <gulp> and signed up with nPower! Just hope I don't live to regret it"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I used energyhelpline.com in the end as they offer a £12.50 cashback for signing up via them. If you use the link above in the blue bar it also benefits Martin and MSE, helping to keep it ad free"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Ive been doing exactly the same as you today Curry Queen, that is to go with Npower via energyhelpline with the 12.50 cashback.
My quote reckoned that i would have a 44% saving :undecided
I am a bit confused though, they said that my annual payment for gas and electric would be £473, but didnt quote what they would charge me per month.
I am hoping the payments will be about £40 per month, but they didnt clarify this.
Hmmmmm....i am very dubious :rolleyes:0
