Myself and three friends need to get from Heathrow to Gatwick this sunday. Does anyone know the chepest way. If found a coach but that is £18 each. Seems a bit steep. I have found mention of a £12 coach but can't find any info.
The other option is hireing a car but we need to pick up at heathrow and leave it at Gatwick.
Or getting a taxi.
Any ideas gretfully recieved.

Cheapest will be a one day travel card with a Gatwick extension. However it would take quite a long time. Basically tube to Victoria (about 1 hour including one change along the way) and then a train from Victoria to Gatwick with Southern (about 35 minutes). Add in walking and waiting time, journey would take about 2 hours. Can't remember cost of ticket, but I reckon it would be around £10 - 12.
Coach, I think will take about 75 - 95 minutes, but no changing will be required.
Last time I got a taxi from Heathrow to Croydon (very close to Gatwick) I paid about £60, however I got it there. I think a pre-arranged cab would cost about £40 - 50."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
the only coach i know of is National Express which left Gatwick every 15 min back in 2005 it was £17.50 each way from Gatwick to heathrow   .2015 wins £4.00 not mse:(
2014 £44.00:mad:2013 £83.00 2012 £601.50
2011 £1554.50 2010 £698.00 2009 £2793.00
2008 £2816.00 2007 £1034.000 -
What time of day will you be travelling? If in the afternoon/evening the road traffic is bad, you will need to allow extra time.
Have a look at http://www.railcard.co.uk/network/network.htm might be cheapest to buy an all zones one day travel card with a single gatwick extension.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Travelling at about 6pm sunday 2nd april. think the train will be to much mucking about. Pre-booking a cab seems to be about £50-£60. Have found a 15% off voucher for national express. Brings the total down to £61.20 for four.
Car hire is around £40 but that will be plus petrol at the other end.

There is the https://www.heathrowconnect.co.uk service to London.
I think you might get stuck in traffic at that time.
There are some deals on the trains through http://www.baa.com/portal/controller/dispatcher.jsp?CiID=6d7f5d9703813010VgnVCM100000147e120a____&CtID=448c6a4c7f1b0010VgnVCM200000357e120a____&Ct=B2C_CT_GENERAL&RootCh=Shopping%20and%20Eating&Ch=BAA+WorldPoints&ChID=8d5d1d8ee01a2010VgnVCM100000147e120a____&ChPath=LHR%5EShopping+and+Eating%5EMore+Reasons+to+Shop%5EBAA+WorldPoints&ChIDPath=bde597dc2eb12010VgnVCM100000147e120a____%5Ebf3797dc2eb12010VgnVCM100000147e120a____%5E9fcc1d8ee01a2010VgnVCM100000147e120a____%5E8d5d1d8ee01a2010VgnVCM100000147e120a____
I think there is a bus to Fletham train station, then a train to Clapham Junction and then change to a Gatwick Airport train.
There is also Underground engineering work at Heathrow.
It ain't easy.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Heathrow connect runs every 30 mins and takes 30 mins to get to Paddington. Getting from Paddington to Gatwick is no easy feat.
I would suggest getting a taxi."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Rent a car one way. I do it all the time to get to/from airports. It is quick, cheap and fully flexible i.e. no waiting for the next bus!
