BILLFF.COM - Scam???

Has anyone heard of BILLFF.COM? My husband has had a charge of £90 taken from his debit card and he knows nothing about them.
I have tried searching on the internet, and it does say that it is a scam , but I haven't seen anything from the UK.

Has anyone had this before?

  • Am sure that is for friend finders. Are you sure your husband is being honest with you, All the searching I have done has turned up women saying this has appeared on their card and have no knowledge of it, then the husband/bf has been denying any knowledge. Either that or someone has managed to get hold of your details and signed up.

Depending on who does the payment checks, you don't need many/any bank details other than the card number, and there are lists of those going round between crooks cheaply (and they can even be generated randomly from what i've heard).

Going back a few years I had my card number used fraudulently on a !!!!!! site* - apparently all the payment services provider they used wanted/needed was the card number, no address etc, even now some sites don't ask for the full card details (I can't remember who it was I used recently that didn't ask for the CVV number, but it was a big retailer).

For all the protection available on modern cards, it still requires the payment services companies, and retailers to actually use them (they are as much for their protection as for the consumers), however companies don't have to use all of them if they are willing to face potential charge backs etc.

A999blonde, have you contacted your bank yet?
If not do it ASAP, and go through your bank statements for the past few months and look for any other potentially dodgy transactions.
The bank should be able to provide more details (when it happened to me they gave me the contact details of the company/payment company that did the billing), start a chargeback etc.
If the bank doesn't replace the card straight off (sometimes they don't for the first instance  ) keep a close eye on the statements for the next few months.

*I mean honestly who pays for !!!!!! on the internet :p
