Credit Card payments error

in Credit cards
Hi all, hope some kind soul can help with a quick question.
My OH has a card with Mint and we have noticed on his statement received today for March that there is a payment going from it on the 8th December. I have looked back on his statements and it looks as if they accidentally credited the card in December for the same amount and have only just realised, hence taking it back from the account. Strangely though there is another credit and debit for exactly the same amount on the 8th March.
My question though is are there any guidelines on how long they can leave it before spotting an error on their part and whipping the money back off of us? I guess there probably isn't but it would be nice if there were! This has completely screwed up my figures, though I know we should have spotted it ourselves sooner (didn't take much notice at the time, doh!).
Thanks in advance,
Alley
