Hi Rosy - sounds like you are a bit like me in despising Political correctness softly-softly claptrap then! Honestly, I reckon 90% of people around today wouldn't know how to take responsibility for their own actions if their lives depended on it, so it's refreshing to read the diary of someone who clearly has no problems in this department!
Eating from reserves can indeed throw up some interesting combinations - have you inventoried your freezer and cupboards yet? That really helps when it comes to planning, not least because it's easier to plan meals etc when you have the ingredients that you have to plan around written down in front of you.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi Different corner, Fire Fox, Scottish Mummy and Essex Hebridean and thank you for popping by!
Essex Hebridean - I've never been one for passing the buck, the way I see it is if I want to credit for my successes I need to take responsibility for my failings. Glad to see others that agree!
Was a busy girl yesterday, worked most of the day and also managed to get some of the deadly boring ebaying done. I love the getting the money part, but the rest of it just sends me to sleep. I just keep telling myself if I get this place properly decluttered I will have very little ebaying to do in future. It is nice actually ticking things off my list, the only thing remaining is the letters which will get done tonight if it kills me!
The OH did very well with dinner last night, we have some dying basil and some pine nuts which needed using, so he made a cheddar cheese pesto and used the last of the roast chicken and some mushrooms to make a lovely pasta dish. We made enough that there is leftovers for both of our lunches today.
Today I will be working all day and I am planning a NSD, I have no reason to buy anything so I won't. Once everything is done I am going to think about this weeks plan of attack.
Have a great Monday everyone!

Hi Rosy
I can tell already that I am going to enjoy this diary!
My biggest headache is people not taking responsibility for themselves - I work every day with 'clients' whose first words to me every day are 'It's not my fault but ...........' They have every excuse under the sun for not having done something/paid something etc. I have come to realise that these people will never be happy because they will never be able to achieve anything or more to the point will never have to achieve anything - there will always be a some get out for them!
You are a breath of fresh air!!!!! :T0 -

I used to be guilty of the it is everyone elses fault, the day I sat up and decided no it was down to me and not the result of some outside influence was a revelation. It is nice and easy to blame something outside for our failings, we can then feel better about ourselves, it is the nasty world that is to blame. I realised a while ago that I choose to take a drink, alcohol does not force me, it is a chemical nothing else. What causes me to take a drink is my responsibility, it is inside me. Someone upsets me, tough lots of people get upset every day, I still have the choice if I want to get drunk. I know I still have a long way to go but I have made leaps and bounds over the past year.
I've been told a lot that I am setting myself up for failure, that I need to follow accepted treatment programes. I did some research and discovered that addiction treatment success rates are identical to success rates with no treatment, each individual doing it for themselves. So I'm not setting myself up, I am doing it the best way for me. More people need to accept that they are responsible for their actions, no one has a gun to their head, accepting that I was the only one to make a choice has made it a lot easier to choose not to act that way.
As that is probably tl;dr I will sum it up as I have no choice about what the rest of the world does but I do have a choice in how I react to it. :TI hated every minute of training, but I said, ''Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'' Muhammed Ali.0 -
Hey,
Just thought i'd pop by and say hi back
I really am enjoying reading your diary and admire your honesty. Wishing you the best of luck Rosy - you sound really determined!
Looking forward to more updates xx0 -

This is making me drool! Sounds like you've got your OH on the frugal bus too!
hope it's going well!:TOverpay!0 -
Hi Rosy, Just caught up & wanted to say good for you! :T
I work in a psychiatric hospital & have seen the AA programme work for some & not for others and generally it is the ones that are ready & willing to make changes that do. Not the ones that go into rehab because someone will leave them etc. Theres absolutely no reason why you can't change your life. The only person that can is you.
Yay you!:T

Hey Rosy,
I read your diary a few days ago and then promptly lost it! Now that you are back at the top of the board, I thought I woudl drop in and say hello hello hello.
Personally, I have had experience with alcoholism, not me, someone in my family and its been a tough time. I wish they were like you and realise that the only way to survive and beat it, is to accept there is a problem, find out what the problem is and then work towards getting better. One step at a time.
I absolutely salute you and wish you really well with beating your drink demons and hope that battling your debt demons at the same time will take your mind off the booze. If you know what I mean. Sometimes its good to have a distraction!!!
Take care now.** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010= £16,819.34 (not including OD)

Just a quickie as I want to make sure I post everyday. Not had a chance to think over the last few days, i've worked solidly and cleared a big work project, it is a huge relief to have it over as it has gone on for ages and I'm excited about starting some new things. Luckily I made 2 NSD excluding posting a book sold on Amazon, i'm not going to count that! Feeling very positive and upbeat.
Thank you to everyone who has posted, I hope to get to know you all a lot better.
I am off to clear up after Hurracaine Rosy and then cook a nice tea before pampering myself in the bath.
