    I would suggest for future reference don't apply for more than 2 forms of credit within a 6 month period (I think it's a 6 month period anyway), as it looks bad.

    Besides once you're slightly older you're more likely to get a better rate of interest on credit cards anyway. You say you have 2 bank accounts, why can't you use your other card if the other one doesn't work? Just transfer some money into it for emergencies.

    I refused to get a credit card at 18, as it would be very tempting to use. My first form of credit was a student overdraft.

    I would use your savings for emergencies rather than the CC.
