Financial advice for redundancy and benefits

Hi All
Are there financial advisors that can help you with your claim and answer questions that will hold water?
eg
If I wish to pay off my mortgage with my redundancy, some have suggested I will be making myself intentionaly on benefits as I would have less than 8k left.... Others say I am allowed to do this etc plus other questions.
Therefore, are there advisors that are experts in this?
Thanks All

Yes, they can be found at the Jobcentre Plus. They are the only people that can give you definitive information that is specific to your circumstances.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I have been working for the last 20 years, so its all new to me. I havent been made redundant yet, but will in a 2 months. Can I go and see them now? do I make an appointment? etc
Thanks

You can go and see them now, but they probably won't be very helpful. They are absolutely swamped with people that are already out of work, so may ask you to wait until you are actually out of work. I would give them a call and ask to speak to someone from the Benefits Delivery Centre that deals with JSA applications. Let us know what they say!Gone ... or have I?0
