Applied for Tax Credits 10 months ago! Still nothing

Hi,
I don't know what to do. I applied for tax credits in August 2008 and have constantly called them to follow up why I haven't heard anything. They keep telling me that they will pass my details on to their superior who will make a priority of pushing my case through. They now tell me my details are with another office but don't tell me more. Initially they told me to call after a week but it is now 3 months since my application was supposedly passed to this special office. Now when I call they tell me not to call anymore and just wait. When I asked them what the problem is they have said since my wife is not a UK citizen, my case is more complicated. I asked them how much longer I must wait and they said they can't tell me and it could be indefinite. I don't see how they can do this and work without any dates.
What can I do to get my tax credits?

Maybe try your MP? I know they have a hotline for tax credit enquiries/complaints and we certainly got a very fast reply when ours got involved!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
