Hi
My daughter spilt her drink onto some paper work and we didn't notice for a couple of days. We thought we had cleaned it all up!!
We have just found that the liquid has caused the ink on the paper work to come out of the paper and has stained? or Embedded itself into our Kitchen table.
I'm not sure what to do about it? the table was a wedding present and was over £1k and I'm not sure if it can be repaired or not.
Will my house insurance cover this?

I suppose it depends how much your excess is. Could you get a private quote first to see whether its worth claiming for.(also depends if your contents insurnace includes for accidental damage.
It it comes to about the same, you hav to decide then (or chuck a table cloth over it.
(That is one expensive kitchen table):eek:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As above, it is a good idea to get a quote first before submitting a claim. If it is a thick wood top with a rustic feel it might be possible to clean or sand it down?
You will only be covered if you have accidental damage cover.0 -
Try posting in the "Old Style Money Saving" or "In my home (Includes Diy) Money Saving" threads on MSE as there may be posters on there who can advise you on how to remove the stains yourself with some random household item like vinegar or a banana.0

or a banana
hehe, i want to hear about that one!0 -
Your house insurance will start with a repairer, so why don't you get a specialist in to take a look.
When we had our new house built they rarely replced anything, but they had people who were specialist in cleaning carpets and a "plastic surgeon" for kitchen worktops and sinks.
We had a builder walk tar on our carpet but the cleaner came with loads of chemicals and got it out.
You insurer will probably start with looking at a repair so I suggest you do that yourself before claiming.0 -
There are quite a few things you can use bananas for around the house eg cleaning your shoes.
P.S I do not recommend you do what I did and google "Uses for a banana"....
You know what everybody is going to be doing now, don't you.:rotfl::rotfl:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
