When do the council tell you you've not paid?!

When do the council tell you you're late with your council tax? Mine was due on 01/06 and i've not heard a peep from them! it just slipped my mind and I wouldn't have thought about it if I'd not read a thread on here!

Were they hoping I'd miss 2 months so they could claim the lot?

I can't pay by direct debit as my bf is a student so I get the 25% discount but they forget this every year and try to take the full DD so I had to cancel it! Can I pay by standing order? It doesn't give this as an option on the back of my bill but that's ideally how I'd like to pay it. But at the moment I can pay on my credit card so I get cashback.

Arrgh! This is Southampton county council by the way.

With my council if you are 2 days late you get a letter telling you the whole amount for the year will be due if not paid in 7 days.

You should be able to pay by standing order if you have the payee's details. Usually you put your ct reference number & the account details of the ct department to make your payment. If you can't find the account details of your ct office then give them a call to ask for them.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    Hi!
My sister has had a few problems with Southampton Council. They set up 2 DD to take her Council Tax but took nothing. She heard nothing so just left it, she then had a court summons! You should try to get in touch with the council asap to see what you can sort out. Have you not paid because of money trouble? If so they should be able to help you spread the payment over the full year. Please don't wait til they contact you as they may just send you a summons and they then charge you £60 on top!! HTH.
