Effect on property value - carpet vs laminate

Personally think from a cost/ benefit point of view, carpet is more expensive than laminate...
Laminate is easier to clean and keep clean.
When you buy a house with carpet, first thought is to remove carpet, where as you give the laminate a good clean!
Cheers

If you come to sell, solicitors often pick up on this and force you to reduce the price to cover reflooring... also your neighbours may hate you and smash your head in with an axe...... (yes I have lived in the flat below a laminate floor)
Our upstairs neighbours put in laminate flooring, although carpeting is specifically required in our lease. They're pretty quiet so we've never complained, but if they ever come to sell I'm going to ask them change it back to carpet.0 -
I generally agree with the people who said that it is a matter of personal taste, however, one thing you didn't mention is the type of flat it is and the type of location you are in. If it is a modern flat and the buyers are likely to be younger then laminate flooring would be more likely to be a better option. If the buyers are likely to be older then a carpet might be better. Also wood laminate is better for communal areas and carpet for bedrooms.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

As TopTipper says, some places are "right" for carpet and some are "right" for laminate.
I guess the increase in value is roughly what it would cost a buyer to put the "right" thing in...0
