Hello,
I´m undecided on whether to rent a 2 bed house or 2 bed flat?
are there any real extra costs to renting a house because in my area the price difference is minimal.
many thanks

I'd always go for a house over a flat, especially when the costs are practically the same.
With a flat you can be affected by noise from neighbours or affect your neighbours with your noise, resulting in complaints or unpleasantness. A lot of new build properties have very flimsy walls so sound pollution is very likely in such rentals.
I can't think of any extra costs that renting a house over a flat would incur other than maintenance of the garden. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

There is usually a service charge with flats however I don't know whether T or LL would be responsible for paying this. This can be quite considerable and in some cases more then the monthly council tax charge!Debt at LBM (March 2006): £30,000
DEBT FREE SINCE APRIL 2008!!!! YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!0 -
I've always preferred flats over houses, but only purpose built ones that are well sound proofed. Noise can affect houses just as much as flats.
The service charge is covered by landlords.
I'd go with whichever has more living space.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Flats are better insulated so often cost less in heating. I also prefer living on one level as it feel more spacious. It obviously depends on the place tho - view both and you'll know which is for you.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
