Cannot Share printer

I am using the Brother MFC-5440CN. I want to share this printer but when I try to do it, an error message appears reading:

"Printer settings could not be saved. Operation could not be completed"

This happens when I try to change any of the settings. The printer is connected by ethernet cable to my router, which is connected to my computer's ethernet port. The router is Belkin f5d7632 and I am running Windows XP.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If it's attached to your router, there's no need to share it. Just install it on all machines in the same as you did for the PC you've already got it on :)

Are you running a firewall? If so, disable it temporarily and try sharing the printer again. If it works it proves that you need to create a firewall exception rule.
