Help - Anyone?
Hi People,
First post is not the greatest but I have a big problem and hoped that maybe someone on here can help. I have a £1400 debt with Scottish Power and they have called the ballifs in who are due on Monday. My main problem being that I was unemployed for 18 months and have only just started working again last week. I have spoken to Scottish Power who have said that the only way to stop the ballifs coming is to pay £650 by Monday, I do not have that kind of money as I also have mortgage debts that I have just started paying back weekly, does anyone know if there is any way to stop the ballifs coming as Scottish Power do not want to accept any kind of payment plan.
Thanks in advance
Stuart

When you say bailiffs, do you mean they are coming to install a prepayment meter?0

I don't think so, as far as I am aware they are coming to take goods0 -

My understanding is that they, Scottish Power not baliffs should install a prepayment meter, whereby you pay a bit more than you use to recover debt.. Have your asked for this, If not please try it Best wishesSealed pot challenge 5430 -

I'll give it a try but when my Girlfriend spoke to them today they were adamant that we had to pay about half of the debt to stop them coming0 -
Definitely try to get a prepayment meter installed instead of a bailiff's visit. ASAP
I can't think why they would not allow this.0 -

Let them send the bailiffs.
But unless they are court appointed bailiffs, in this case I guess trying to enforce a CCJ that you have failed to pay, then don't let them in (and make sure the property is secure so they can't walk in)
They'll then have to leave empty handed.
In the unlikely event they are court appointed, you'll either need to comply with the judgement that the court ordered, or appeal to the court directly to call off the bailiffs."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
