hubby's orange contract - need help!
Hi!
My first post so apologies if I have not done this in the right way.
My husband is currently on an Orange contract of 120 mins for £30pm. His 1 year is up on 04.01.05 (had an upgrade in 2004).
He needs to keep his number for work purposes but he really needs/wants the Nokia 5140 (rubber phone?!) due to his other phones getting battered at work
Do we stick with Orange?
Can he take his number with hiim to say O2?
Anyone got any info on good deals that include the Nokia 5140?
Can he get a better minute deal? (often goes over his minutes but not always)
Hubby wants to keep things simple and would quite happily walk into the Orange shop and pay the £50 odd quid for an upgrade and stick with the contract. As an MSE'er I am not happy with that!
All info greatly appreciated!
thanks
Emmacw

using the rule KISS (keep it simple and sweet.) Since you said he doesn't mind paying £50 to upgrade. Well I know a lot of people on the orange list get the handset offline. Which I think in this case (will look tonight in more detail) might be the solution. Since I think that phone is not available on Orange now. You can move to o2 and on one of those cashbacks. But give me tonight and I will check the best option. Since what I am thinking might be the best solution is get Orange to give you select 500 (cost £25 a month) and get a Nokia 6230 free. This phone can than sell , exchange or give to u. And than get the other nokia simfree. (either free by the sell of the nokia 6230, or exchange, or as no need to buy you a new year present) :-)0

The best deal for him is £3.99 per month, 500 min of calls anytime to any network and 100 texts per month. Phone is Nokia 7600. I think they include a case for it. That should make it rubberlike?
See the link below for more detail:

Thanks Steve_xx
Showed my hubby the link and he didn't think he could cope with that phone's shape!!
The phone has also got to cope with being thrown around a building site (hence the rubber phone).
We have now looked at the Orange Value Promise website and contacted Orange again. Apparently if he is on the 120 cross network minutes contract he should get this rubber phone for free, not £50 as previously told so I think he's going to opt for that - anything for an easy life, my hubby!
Cheers once again

Thanks for your thoughts Mark Kelly
Looks like hubby is definately going for the easy option -see post above.
I don't need a phone as I have just taken receipt of a 6610i from work which should keep me happy for a while having been used to a 3310!!
Cheers

Hubby phoned Orange last night.
He was put through to someone who examined his bill history and noted that regardless of which tariff he was on (he changes it between 60 & 120 mins occasionally) he seemed to use on average 90 mins.
She then offered him the 120 min tariff & 30 free texts each month for 12 months at £15pm (saving of £10pm & cost of texts) and threw in the rubber phone he wants for free! ;D ;D ;D
He didn't even ask!!!
Needless to say he took the deal - he was going to take the 120 tariff and get the rubber phone anyway so he's saved us £120 and any texts he makes in the next year. And I didn't think he was a MSE'er!
