Best mattress for toddler?
[Deleted User]

My son is nearly 3 and I am shopping around for a big boy bed, but I am finding it hard to choose the mattress, what is supposed to be best for a growing kid, a soft or hard mattress, open spring, pocket spring, foam, latex, the choice is endless...
Thanks for your input.

i chose a sprung one for my toddler, but then he's rather hefty and thought he needed the support.0 -
i bought two beds for my girls last year and just got them very cheap at argos as they dont weigh a lot(the girls that is!!) so how it feels (comfy wise!)to us isnt necessarily how it feels to them and all they will do for the next few years is have accidents ie wet bed or vomit ! so mine were only about £40 each they are sprung and i can feel it is affordable to replace them when needs be without having an expensive one to replace! hope this helps! they have slept very well i must add so cheap ones makes no difference to a toddler!!and i have waterproof stuff on i recomend the terry towelling covered plastic fitted sheets(dunhelm) as some of the plain plastic make the girls sweat more and get too hot! they havent had any accidents either so far so ive been lucky but i feel well prepared!!!!!0

buy a cheap one that can be replaced even with waterproof mattress covers it will probably be exposed to some form of body fluids!! When buying waterproof mattress covers buy a toweling covered one or a quilted one which is even better but buy a double size rather than single as it gives better coverage of the matteress, they do tend to shrink with washing. When children are reliabily dry at night and able to use a bowl to be sick in buy a better matteress!!!0
