i have a 9 year old daughter for whom i claim carers allowance, now she is in full time school i feel i would like to work part time , to bring in a little extra money, gain confidence and get back into the working world.
would i be entitled to jsa and all the help and support that goes with it?
ive looked on a few websites but im a little confused.
my daughter is my main priority and has monthly appointments, so i will need a very understanding employer.
will i lose my carers allowance if i got jsa?
i appreciate any answers.
thank you.

To get Carer's Allowance you have to commit to looking after someone for at least 35 hrs per week. To get your JSA you need to be actively seeking work and available at a moments notice.
And that's your problem. I doubt you can do both.
Also with Carer's Allowance you can't earn any more than £95 per week from your employment, which might be a problem too.
Do you get Income Support right now ?0 -
I think your JSA would stop and your'd have to claim working and child tax credit, if you are working over 16 hrs a week.
Thats what I'm claiming as a single mum working PT:j Things can only get Better :j0 -
i dont get income support. i live with my partner (daughters dad) . i do actually care in excess of 35 hours per week and have been receiving ca since august 04.0
