Thermostatic shower valve and combi boiler

I have a thermostatic shower valve and a combi boiler and seem to remember somewhere someone saying that the two should not be combined. The valve has only been in use a little over a year. During that time the pressure hasnt been what it was previously with just a mixer valve. Recently however the pressure has increased very slightly (I think) but the heat has gone down. It is necessary to have the shower at its hottest setting in order for it to be comfortably warm and something is wrong. Even if the amount of water coming through is turned down it still isnt as hot as it should me. I have had the boiler serviced within the year and all other taps that should be are piping hot. Anyone any ideas or advice?

Good morning: A combination boiler and a thermostatic shower mixer is the ideal combination (in fact TSMs should be used on all bathroom installations but sadly, aren't )Sounds as if you have a problem with the mixer itself as you have stated the DHW is fine on other taps. Find an answer for your specific mixer here unless it is of the non-branded variety.

i had the same problem, basically what happened with mine was that the mixer had the strainer on both the hot and cold intakes, and the hot one was being clogged with limescale, i removed the mixer and cut the strainer on the hot water inlet...this has solved the issue and saved me 100 quid on a new mixer.

it may be the same issue with yours.
