Virgin card offered me 0% SBT

Virgin card offered me 0% SBT with £35 handling fee for 6 months. Money is in my savings account. I am happy. Is this stoozing?

Yes - welcome to the wacky world of stoozing! Remember to set up a direct debit to make the minimum payment each month, and start looking for another card to transfer the debt onto about 6 weeks before your six months is up. For more info on stoozing, have a look at: https://www.stoozing.com

To pay the card off at the end of the 6 months you can pay by BACS or (if you prefer) online at MBNA/Virgin by debit card. For the latter the cash has to be in your current account before you ask them to collect but it has the advantage of being only one working day (rather than 2 days via BACS) to credit onto the account.

Also, the last date is typically the date of the sixth (in this case) statement after the transfer was made. What this means in practice is that a 6 months period can approach 7 months! Call Virgin and get them to confirm the date of the end of the 0% and write it down.
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

I had a 9 month virgin stooze finish a couple months ago. I had initially sbt'd the cash into current account. I Transfered (bt)the debt on and meant to cancel the card, though never got round to it. Virgin in the meantime phoned me offering 6 months extra 0% for a £35 feee which I declined to give me time to weigh up some options. Yesterday I phoned Virgin to see if the 6month0% offer was still available. The helpfull chap told me it wasnt. BUT then offered me 9months 0% (£35fee). Sbt to current account going through now :T

  • Phoned on Saturday to cancel my Virgin card as my 9 month 0% balance transfer period was coming to an end and the balance had been transferred onto another 0% card. I had read on here that they would probably offer me 7.9% APR, down from 15.9%. Was put through to "retention"! who indeed did reduce my APR to 7.9%!! I was also offered a 0% for 6 months balance transfer. Told him I didn't have a balance to transfer and he said he could put it in my current account for me!! (started to smile to myself at this point!!!) At first he said there would be a £35 fee, and although I agreed he knew I wasn't keen. A few seconds later he said there was a mistake, there was no £35 fee after all!!! £3400 now being paid into my current account and then transferred into savings account for 6 months!!! Isn't it great when "they" think they are in control. I got exactly what I intended, all for a free phone call. Don't you just love this "game"?
