Hi all
Just had a text from my mum from her hospital bed asking if i can buy her a freeview box to give to my dad for crimbo, as she can't get to the shops ::). As i only have a few days, the internet is out. Also i'd rather avoid the high st due to the chaos that ensues so close to xmas. That leaves me with the following options which are in one of the 3 retail parks round the corner.
Comet
Currys
Powerhouse
PC World
Does anyone know of a decent, cheap freeview box i can get from one of these (£50 ish)
Thanks

Have you no Asda, Tesco, Woolies round about? I have two Sagem, different models and can recommend both. I bought the last Sagem from Woolies and they price matched with an Alba that was selling in Argos and as Argos have been selling a Goodmans at £29.99 you might try that?0

If you possibly can get to woolies for an echostar t-101+. If not then see if there's an argos on a local retail park and go for the goodmans mentioned.
If you have to get one of the ones you listed, get the Daewoo, but bear in mind it's only got one SCART.0 -
Went into currys on friday nice looking phillips box half price at £45 scart lead included.
Looked good0 -
Try richer sounds if you have one close to you.0

No richer sounds nearby
Will check woolies out for the echostar t-101+
Will check the half price philips in currys too, although it's not on their website.

p.s Dr's need to find out whats wrong with my mum before thay can get her better0 -
Seen a link on here the other day - cant find it now typical! Goodmans Freeview box £29.99 think it was Argos. I have 3 of these bought a while ago and they work fine. I too hope she soons gets well.
TrevI am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
Just had a look on the argos website, can go there tonight.
They have a Sagem ITD58 and a Goodmans GDB4G both for £39.99. Which should i get? The sagem only has one scart socket. Does that make a big difference? Surely you connect these things by connecting the coax aerial to the freeview box, scart out to scart on video then scart from video to tv? What would you need a second scart for? Or have i missed something
Cheers
