Sat Nav info/help .. upgrading to tomtom software

Hi,

I'm hoping to buy a sat nav this week for my husband for fathers day and have been looking at a few models. The tomtom one v4, Navman S50 3D and the navigo v3 (from ebayer).

I really just want one from a to b but that has nice graphics and maps are up to date and wont take us down the wrong routes.

I'm quite attracted to the navigo one as its only £50 and i've heard you can then upgrade to tomtom 7 software.

Can anyone tell me how i go about doing an update, what do i have to buy & are there other ways of doing it without costing a fortune? :o
