Npower, ammount in credit
Hello folks,
Just joined up here, looking for some advice.
I have an NPower Gas account which is £192 in credit. Does anyone one know if i can request this ammount back, by way of a cheque?
I really dont like the idea of MY money sitting in their bank account gaining interest.
Thanks in advance folks.

Yes - just call them and ask for it.
They may want some of it to cover higher winter payments when the direct debit averages out, but should come to an arrangement.
On the other side the interest on £200 at base rate is 2p a week0 -

I have done so recently and had a few problems initially with the call centre advisor who was adamant that I was not eligible to seek a return of ‘my’ money, even after I pointed out that I wasn’t banking with npower I was in fact receiving utilities from them! Eventually I had to ask to speak to a supervisor who informed me that the ‘rule’ was that if you contacted them within 14 days of receiving your bill and provided them with an up to date reading you could request that ‘some’ of the money you were in credit for could be returned. I negotiated an amount that was reasonable and it was returned to my bank about 6 days later. I have since switched providers……..but that is another story.0 -

Mick..
I rang up NPower on my lunch today...Spoke to bloke who was actually very friendly and helpfull...
I asked him about returning the money to me that i was in credit...he took up to date meter readings from me, told me i will recieved a revised bill in 5 - 7 working days, and to ring them up when i recieve this to get whatever credit is there put back in my account.
That was all pretty painless....we'll see how they are when i get the ammended bill and i ring them again to get my money back...
Thanks for the responses folks...much appreciated..0 -
Be aware that the monthly DD system runs so that you build up a credit balance through the summer when usage is low to see you through the winter. You shouldn't expect the whole credit balance returned unless you want to increase your monthly DD. That said, your DD should be such that you have a zero balance in the spring. If you have a large credit balance around April, the DD is too high and you should get a refund.0

Yeah, i'm ready to discuss this DD ammount when i call them back with the ammended bill...
On the bill i recieved the other day ( the one that shows the ammount of credit ), it shows my current gas account DD to be re-calculated to £2 a month from July..0
