We are hiring the local sports club and it is costing us £150.
But.. we get so much freedom to do what we wish, we are even allowed to change the curtains, the grounds are beautiful and we can have whatever caterer we want, which is fab!
We looked at coucil run venues and these were upwards of £10000 -
We are just going to a restaurant where room hire is free as long as you have over 20 guests - we have 40.0

the venue i have booked is just over £1000 but it is huge with around eight rooms, and we have exclusive use. I also like that we are free to bring in whatever caterer we want!Getting ready to buy our home - £20,000 saved

It really really depends on where you're going and what you want. If you're going for a hotel it's going to be a lot more expensive than if you go for a venue which caters for loads of different events, like a community centre, pub, etc. My venue hire is £750 because it's a Friday, and that doesn't include food or drink or flowers. Sometimes you can get all-in places where they include decoration in it as well.
I've seen some places which go through the roof for venue hire. Ours isn't cheap by a long way, but I've seen places that are basically £2000 just to get your foot in the door! I also investigated marquees and they can be expensive - not so much because of the actual hire of the marquee, but because you have to think about lighting, heating, the floor, whether you want drapes, toilet facilities, table and chair hire etc.0 -
Depends where you choose
I got an all in one location - it was £230 for the hire of the chapel, but no charge for the reception room, and a free house disco at night.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. We had a budget of £3000.00 for our room, disco, main meal, drinks, canapes and evening buffett. We have 30 for the day and 80 for the evening.
Yellowbug - I would advise that you create a budget for what you want/am willing to spend and then look for venues in your price range. You don't want to fall in love with a place and then find out you can't afford it!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Yeah, definitely echo what SmlSave says. Work out what you have now, what you can comfortably save, whether any one can offer you any money (relatives etc) and then work out your total budget. Then, from there, look at online budgets: there are some like at http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk which you can put your total amount in and it divides it up according to what percentage people generally spend of their budget for each thing, so the greatest amount goes towards the venue costs or whatever. Once you are given guideline amounts then you could start tweaking, so you could say 'well, the honeymoon is the most important, so I don't mind scrimping on the transport'. Once you do that, then you can research the suppliers to find out if you're being realistic and whether people can deliver the goods at that price. One thing I've learned is that you can do a wedding on any budget as long as you are flexible!0

Hi there, all we have to pay for is the food and drink as far as the venue is concerned, costing £800 altogether, and this includes room hire for ceremony and reception, complimentary red carpet, staff for the day, bridal suite on the night. We then have to pay £150 for the disco and £295 for the registrar.
