when i say landscaping i mean digging up and putting gravel down
what is the cheapest way to dispose of the turf and soil - the area to be cleared is around 8 foot by 25 foot and not very deep as there is tarmac underneath and the soil is raised on railway sleepers

Around here, a skip would set you back about £120 - £150
However (assuming you are not digging up rubble) you are looking at getting rid of turf and topsoil which many people would be interested in.
Try putting an advert on your local freecycle for topsoil & turf.when i say landscaping i mean digging up and putting gravel down

get a skip, £70 to £100 around here.
its not worth the hassle advertising this small amount.
plus you just wanna dig it up, then get rid of it.0 -
It's amazing how the cost of skips vary.
It costs us £165 for a 6yard skip, and £220 for a 8 yard skip. HTH. We're in Surrey.
If its a small amount you could look into Hippo bags.0 -
If you know anyone with a trailer/can rent a trailer you can get rid of turf at recycling centres. If you check with them they may take topsoil too although this is a bit of a grey area due to potential contamination. If you can keep that on site then you may be able to just do a few trips filling the boot of your car? Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
