i have a wooden front door and am undecided between getting new locks for it (as the current one is poor and the door is good) or getting a upvc unit
quoted £650 for upvc door (which has a glass panel above the door so an off the shelf probably wouldn't fit)
any ideas?

Replacement locks are a lot cheaper than a new door and if the door is wooden door and frame is secure why replace it?
Having seen how upvc doors stand up to abuse compared to a decent wooden one I know which I'd prefer.0 -
well i had that discussion with my mate who is a copper and he said upvc as it takes him much longer to smash a upvc door down with a ram whereas a wooden one will fold with one hit
going down the door route to now its a new post to find out how to get the cheaest door

A door is only as strong as the hinges and locks holding it. A decent wooden door fitted with proper locks and hinges will be just as secure-and a lot more atttractive.
How many burglars carry a ram with them? If they do, they're going to get in anyway. No free lunch, and no free laptop
