Esa not payed again!!!!!

Yet again ESA not payed me AGAIN .
This happens nearly every time i send my cert in :mad: . I send it in well week before it runs out This time my cert run out on the 10th june I sent one off on 3rd june should have got payment today and no payment in my bank so now this has put me right back as now i will get cut off phone . I have 40p emergancy electric . I try to get my self better > BUT THESE PPL MAKE ME SO ANGRY I JUST GET REALLY DEPRESSED AGAIN :mad:. So now i have got to try and get though to them on the phone (if its not busy ) to get them to hunt for my cert again I dont know wot goes on with my case :mad: does anyone else have this trouble with them !!!

Yes - we have problems too. Since OH claiming since end of Jan, we have had only a handful of payments made on time. They have lost almost all certs, lost the medical questionnaire (twice) and stopped payments due to a mess up at the child tax credits (which wasn't DWP's fault but goes into the same "pot").

Oh, and the have over-paid OH by £142 after a mess-up; but they are sure that its right (Not according to my spreadsheet its not!)y

Everything is posted recorded now and I re-budgeted allowing for an extra week or so on outgoings for when it happens again.


I think that its just too many claimants with too few staff because of cut backs over the years; but its difficult not to get angry with the person on the phone even when it is a systems problem.

but when they say you will have to wait 5 days when it gets cleared in to ya bank thats when it annoys me
i cannot borrow as i dont want to put my self in debt again . as i have just come off from being bankrupt

Are you near your job centre? If so you could take your sick note to them (or get someone to take it for you) and they will fax it for you and give you proof that it has been done, might be a way of solving the problem.

I know it's frustrating, it happens to me evry time as well. But as already said I think its too little staff doing to much. The job centre faxing it for you is a really good idea. That way you know they have received it.

There's huge problems with medical certificates tbh. And that's because there's now two different benefits - ESA and Incapacity Benefit - which receive med certs.

One way to help might be to send an accompanying letter with your certificate & tell them you're getting ESA. Or simply mark the top of the certificate with "ESA" in the hope it gets to its destination faster.

If you don't do that the certificate has to get "sifted", with a member of staff going through hundreds of certificates each day trying to decide which part of the office they're for. And that's what causes the delays ...
