Thursday 11th june - what small DFW things have you done today??

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free;)
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Hello everyone....hope SM doesn't mind me being impatient and getting the thread going;)
Lovely and sunny here again today, at last:D
My excitement at getting onto the degree course has now disappeared - i rang Student Finance and as I studied for 2 years when I was young (dropping out before getting the degree), the lady said I probably wont recieve funding for 1 year of this new course, not even the tuition fee loan (£3225:eek:). I don't feel I can ask my dad to contribute that much.....so will have to see. I'm not happy, all comes down to money:mad:
Anyway, must get my list on:

Morning all :j
Just posting quickly before I disappear off to work - long, boring and probably pointless meeting today which will stop me getting on with all the rest of it
Still, I do think that by the end of this week I should start to see some light at the end of the tunnel :j
Milly - good luck with your funding application. Do the course if you possibly can, as you are obviously passionate about it, and it may bring a chance of a better salary and more security for you and your children in the future. Perhaps if you cannot get funding you could ask your Dad to lend you the money until you qualify, if you don't feel you could accept it as a gift? If he has offered to help, do try to take him up on it. You mentioned that you haven't seen him for a long time - perhaps he is wanting to build bridges.
Anyway, short list for me today (but you should see my work list )
check online banking (done)
see to animals and plants (morning shift done)
Leftovers for supper
Have a nice day everyone - must dash :hello:0 -

Its so very frustrating isnt it? Both myself and OH are in the same boat we both have courses we want to finish but in total to do both it would be over £5000:eek: and unless I find that secret money tree, it just aint going to happen!
So my list for today:- Have my yummy homemade jam on toast for brekkie.
- Walk into town
- Buy a little present to post to a friend
- Buy 3 photo frames as cheaply as I can.
- Dinner at a friends for the 3 of us tonight, no cooking or washing up :T
- Check online banking, TCs gone in :T
- Continue knitting my squares/baby hats

2020 the year of less - Less debt, less waste, less spending, less stuff, less stress!0 -
I'm having a GRRR day. I'll endeavour not to turn this into a rant but it'll be hard.
My list today:- Log line issue with BT.
Don't know if you saw on the news this morning but Sheffield was pretty flooded yesterday in quite a bad storm. It hit something near my house on the top of a hill and it felt like an earthquake.
The storms have now gone and taken the service at our telephone exchange with it... only, the feedback on the line caused my phone to ring intermittently from around quarter past midnight until I could be bothered to get out of bed and go and unplug the thing.
So no phone or internet (until tomorrow they reckon) and interrupted sleep last night  Doubt I'll get a refund because an outage due to storms will be a "force majeure"... the rain was pretty biblical.
My ISP actually got in touch with me to tell me there was a problem at the exchange. Impressive customer service. BT usually deny all knowledge until they tell you they've fixed it! - Check online banking. I've made Rpoints pay my 14p out because I don't really go on there any more. Added that to the virtual sealed pot. Everything else is where it should be.
- Storecupboard meals. Put some storecupboard wine in the fridge for tomorrow... I need it after this week.
- Order repeat prescription online.
- Request PAC code from Orange for the simple reason: I hate Mariella Frostrop's voice when I have to ring their customer services. I really am that irritable that it will make me change provider.
- Charge everything at work and do everything I need to do on the internet before I go home.
- I've got some change I've been meaning to put in my sealed pot for a while but keep forgetting. Will do that today.
- Should be a NSD... unless further adverse weather means I need to buy an ark/canoe in order to get home from work.
- Surveys as they come in...
0 - Log line issue with BT.

Oh dear Norton - I hope things improve!
Just a quick positive thing to report - had a look for home insurance and managed to get some from More Than (buildings with free contents) for £168. Also did it through Quidco so I'm getting £70 back! All sorted for just less than £100!!!!:j:j:j
Paid up front too so no nasty direct debit next year to worry about.
I'm calling Nat west to see when I can cancel the direct debit with them and also the car insurance to see when that can be cancelled too! On a mission today.....0
