Natwest Cheque Clearing

Logged on to my online bank today to check if a cheque had cleared to be faced with this note on my account

What exactly does this mean?

    The first line is your cheque deposit for £200 at the Neston branch. Not sure about the next two, they appear to be internal transfers of £200 from an account called "EXTRA DEFERMENT", then back again. Possibly a mistake in the branch which they immediately corrected? Contact your branch if you want to know.

    Probably the cheque amount being taken away then put back in, but many banks present "+es" before "-es" on each day
  • Part of the cheque is on what is called extended deferment ie normal cheque clearance would show up as clear on the third working day, but deferment it means that it has been extended an extra day.I would give the bank a call and just ask them though to explain it.

    Could it be that the cheque has bounced 'refer to drawer please represent' and that the clearing cycle will start all over again?
