Cost of Fitting En-suite Wall Tiles

I am moving into a new build house very shortly. The builder is tiling our en-suite bathroom 1.2m high, and too the roof over the shower free of charge. I would like to have the whole room tiled and have been quoted the following prices:

Extra Area to be Covered = 10 square metres
Labour = £30 per metre
Tiles = £22 per square metre
Total cost = £450 approx

This seems excessive to me to tile the other half of my en-suite. Are these prices fair? Would I be cheaper purchasing the tiles afterwards and getting somebody else to fit them?

Sorry, dont have much experience when it comes to builders!

    Hi Magic Dragon
    I fit kitchens and bathrooms in South Wales and do a lot of floor and wall tiling.
    I charge between £20.00 and £25.00 per metre for ceramic tiles and around £30.00 for marble etc. I supply all the labour, adhesives and sealants and let the customer supply the tiles and grouts. My prices are for tiling on walls that are ready to tile on. ie no making good, plastering etc.

    Hope that helps a bit.

    £30 a square meter is not far wrong depending on what part of the country you are from. i think you should get quite a few quotes and see how you get on. a tip for you go to your local tile center and look on the notice board by the till and get some tilers names from there cards they leave there.

    hope this makes sence

    good luck
  • Im a tiler in the rugby area and i charge about £400 including adhesive grout labour to tile a whole room of say 15 sq m
    2 days labour + materials
    hope this helps

  • I live in N.E.Lincs and you can get tiling done here for between 15 and 20 quid a metre but this is one of the poorer areas of the country,low house prices etc.
