Tesco Car Insurance for Smart Car?

My daughter is going to view a Smart Car tomorrow and has been doing a bit of a search for fully comprehensive insurance and we had a look on the Tesco Website but can't get past the 'vehicle selection' process because 'Smart' is not there as a choice of vehicle!

Can anyone in the know suggest why that might be? We've even looked under Daimler & Mercedes as, I think, they are manufactured by Daimler. Does this mean Tesco won't insure the Smart Car or will we have to ring them to get a quote?

Thank you very much for that... I have no idea why it would be MCC but it was. Tesco insurance was steep though so we'll keep looking.

MMC was the brand when launched, with "Smart" being the model (like Focus or Mondeo to Ford) though because Smart was snappier/more marketable name Merc have always used that and it has now become the actual brand with the models being called something else! The DVLA/ABI lists have not been updated!

My daughter has had a smart for a year now. She`s 20 and it was ideal in the beginning when she passed her test as she couldn`t have more than 1 passenger so wouldn`t be as distracted. She is now looking to change it for a "normal" car.
