Blackhorse loan PPI

Options
Wondering if anyone can help, we took out a secured loan with Blackhorse in 2000 and were told we had to take out the payment protection. Earlier this year, my self employed husband had a dry spell with work and worried that this would continue we tried to find out if we could claim on the policy.

We were informed that the protection was only for the first 5 years of the loan even though the ppi payments were spread over 10 years. We then contacted one of these companies who advertise to help you claim back ppi and were told as Lloyds were not regulated in 2000 they can do nothing for us. Does anyone know what our next move should be? Is there anyway we can claim back the payment protection?

Thanks

    Is your loan still current?
If so yes there is something you can do.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.
  • Yes it is still current, there is 18 months left to run.

    Hi Andrew

If you were mis sold the PPI for any reason there is no harm in trying to reclaim on this.

If you no paperwork, how long ago did you take this out (year)?

You can write to them to request a CCA (true copy of your agreement), they have 12 days to supply this to you, but enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment for this request, and post by recorded delivery.
The agreement should show if you had PPI.

You can check old banking statements for the account number, as they may require this to help track down your agreement, other than that make sure you give them as much personal info as possible, such as your full name, date of birth, if your address was different to the one when you taken this out and so on.

For more info on reclaiming with guidelines and templates, check this link here:

Please ask for help when required and good luck.
