Hi
I have had my license for almost 2yrs so come november my probation period ends
Now my insurance is with churchill and it was at about £65 a month they have sent me a letter for renewal which has gone down to just over £51. As my husband was out of the country for a few months they gave me his 2yrs no claims bonus. So on my renewal papers it says 3years no claims. So I make a saving. My husband is back and he is driving again but I still get to keep the no claims
Anyway he feels there is no point ringing around for a cheaper deal. Though I was wondering what you guys thought.
I am well over 25
car is a 307 1.4
what do you think?

If you have a few minutes to use a couple of comparison sites I'd say do it.
I couldn't just renew a policy without shopping around first, I'd always wonder could I have saved a few quid?:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Im not sure how the 2 years 'borrowed' no claims would transfer to other companies. Maybe someone on here has used a fast track NCB builder etc etc?
If it does transfer to other companies then go for it and hit moneysupermarket or alternative but 3 years NCB on a 2 year licence might look fishy from the offset.0 -
Well, you could have had a provisional for a year before you got a full licence so could have built 3 years NCD.0

Hi new to this forum but thought I would just let you know about what happens when you use a comparison site. I always thought that they were a good idea as you can see almost instantly what the different insurance companies will charge you for insurance. Recently I used one as I bought a new car but tonight my husband checked his experian credit check and all the times that I have searched on the comparison website for car insurance has been listed on the repot. i was amazed as it looks as if I have had to search a few times because I have been refused insurance or something and I havent been refused at all - in fact I did not even click into any of the quotes just had tem all in a list on the computer screen. I think its pretty bad that this should appear in a credit report - has this happened to anyone else?0

Car insurance has to be one of the most difficult insurances to convince.
No matter what anybody tells you its all down to..
- Age
- Period Licence held
- Convictions
- Location
- Type of vehicle
- No claims bonus
- Which Company
+ Few more i cant think of right now!
From my experience i've noticed the more Advertisement an insurance company does the more expensive they will be towards customers. Think of advertising costs they go through.
It needs to come back from customers!. But thats what i just personally think!
Your NCB's i'm very confused how they transfered your Husbands on to your name!0 -
It takes id say 15 minutes to fill the details on the comparisons websites, id also see if direct line are competitive price wise0

its not dodgy at all. my husband left the country was gonna be out of the uk for a while. so his policy was cancelled. I then set up the insurance for myself on his car but then sold that car for one I wanted. Anyway. as I was using churchill and not another insurer they said I could have his no claims bonus as it can be transfered to a spouse.
He is back but his policy is a lot higher as he no longer has the no claims bonus as I benefit from it
nothing dodgy at all. its what they offered me.would love to be a home owner. hate private rentingscared of debt. almost debt free.

Not saying it is dodgy. I am advising you to check with other companies. Some insurance companies wont accept "no claims accelerators" other people bury their head in the sand and hope that their insurance isnt invalidated in the event of a claim. There was some hoohar on here a while ago about 10month bonus accelerators. Some people said it was ok whereas other people had phoned the insurers who wouldnt accept it.
You havent earnt 3 years NCB, you have borrowed someone elses. Although churchill will recognise the fact you have 3 years NCB, perhaps other insurance companies (that you may sign up to in a price comparison spree) may only recognise 1 year of your NCB due to the other 2 being part of a "perk" of churchill.
Again, you'll probably be "alright" but TBH I'd rather be safe than finding out im insurance void.0
