Setting up access point

Help!!

I'm trying to extend my wireless broadband coverage. I currently have Netgear wpn824 router connected to virginmedia which provides wireless coverage. The router is connected to 2 PCs by ethernet cable, and a homeplug providing a link to xbox 360 in another room.

I have purchased a homeplug wireless access point which plugs into the mains and connects over the mains to the other homeplug which is connected to the router.

The problem is that I have plugged the access point in and connect wirelessly to it and then to the internet. When I try to add security to the acces point I cannot connect to the internet. It have tried changing the SSID on the Access Point to the same as the router and that makes no difference.

I have the choice to return the access point as I purchased it yesterday, but really want to master this problem. Does anyone have an idea on options to make it work?

Thanks

think you need to go through all your settings again, you shouldnt need to set up security in the homeplugs if one of them is direct into the router

    Thanks Gunjack.

I've removed all security and the link works to the internet. The problem is that is shows as an unsecured wireless network in addition to my existing secured wireless network.

What I am trying to achieve is the ability to have the homeplug wireless access point secured so that my link is not compromised.

    Cheers
