Another tactic of Quinn is, when you pass your test and ring up to tell them, saying 'Congrats, that'll be an extra £950 please.' Someone on this forum said that actually. Although its irrelevant to the OP :D.
I'm 17 (male) and recently got a VERY competitive quote of £1100 (considering I've passed my test about 3 months now and done pass plus) for my mum's 1.0 corsa which I drive, and is about the same value as the OPs, from a company called iKube. I say its my mum's car, but I was telling them it was mine to get an idea whether I could afford my own car if you see what I mean, anyway.
As I said it was £1100 fully comp (unfortunately forgot to ask what the excess was), but they install a GPS unit in your car, and automatically charge you £45 if you drive between 11PM and 5AM. As I never do I thought this was pretty good. You can't get a quote online, need to call them,

I'm with Zurich atm, and it's £700 in total as a named driver on my mum's policy. She genuinely is the main driver so its all fine before anyone starts on that one! :D

Friend of mine is with NFU and pays...wait for it...£300!!! and he is less than a year older than me and passed his test a month later. That was for an old clio. Having said that he comes from a farming family so they have allsorts of other things with NFU which made his quote especially favourable, but I understand they still can be pretty good for everyone else.
