That is the fund he would get if he bought now. But not the fund he would have got had it been before Sept 2005. To get full data on that fund you had to use the fund that was available for that period.
So why give him figures about the fund he would not be offered instead of the fund he would be offered?
The point of the posting wasnt the version of the fund but to point out that limitations of the FTSE100 and its historic poor performance and why the FTSE all share is better option.

As I pointed out way back in this thead the FTSE100 has historically done slightly less well the than the All-share - i.e. 2.3% difference over 5 years.

The difference isn't vast because the All-share comprises largely of the same FTSE100 companies and doesn't include the smallest companies. The All-share index doesn't include all shares. In the case of the L&G funds the FTSE100 version costs more at 0.75% pa than their All-share tracker at 0.5% which adds a further disadvantage.

The only reason I could see for anyone wanting the FTSE100 tracker would be if they already had exposure to smaller companies covered by the All-share. They should still be given accurate facts.
    It doesnt matter though.

I beg to differ. It does matter if new investors come to a board like this and are misled, whether deliberately or in error, with tailored "facts" that don't actually apply to fund they would currently be offered.

Because when the original figures were posted, they were the only ones available. As I said, I copied and pasted them from an earlier thread. Hence why there was no 2009 YTD figures or a 2008 figure. Plus, there isnt a lot of choice for data on FTSE100 funds going back with a long history.

And i put that into a context with tracker funds and over a period longer than you did.

Stop misleading them then with your comments that FTSE100 trackers have been consistently top performers.
