wills what to do next

my mothers partner of 30 years has recently passed away without leaving a will dont know what we should do next do we have to go to a solictor what are letters of administration they own no property and have only meagre savings he has got a son but this is not a problem we just dont know what to do next they have a joint bank account can my mother still draw money from this account can anyone please offer any advice

No, you don't have to go to a solicitor.
Contact your nearest Probate Office and they'll explain everything to you.

Yes, your mother can still access the joint bank account.
There should have been a booklet given (?to the son) called 'What to do when someone dies'. This sets everything out clearly and simply.
