Hi, Im appealing to all of you with school age children & hope you can give me a hand.
My son starts school in September so am on the look out for school uniforms.
From your experiences where is good to buy from? I obviously don't want to pay the earth, but I want it to last as well.
Also how many of each things do you think I should get? I have estimated below, do you think Im right?
He needs:
Trousers (Grey) x 2?
Polo shirts (white) x 5?
Black PE shorts x 1?
Grey socks x 5?
Black trainers (for some reason they dont want them to have plymsolls?!) x 1?
School shoes
Many Thanks in advance for sharing you tips & wisdom!

Asda are doing an offer at the moment.
 £3 for 4 polo shirts
 £3 for 2 sweatshirts
 £5 for 2 pairs trousers.0

Ah yes its that time again- my youngest starts in September too!
If you son is anything like mine- he is a real dirt magnet- you will need an extra pair of trousers (cost £3-£5) They are usually teflon coated look out for these . White shirts stain very easily but they are cheap- £3 odd for a pair. They don't usually do PE in nursery so i wouldn't bother with shorts unless otherwise told. Socks- these get lost all the time- they only cost about £3 for a pack of 5 so I would buy a couple of packs.
Don't forget a couple of Jumpers for cold days, and a rain pak a mac.
I get ours from Tesco or Asda, in July they have a lot of 3 for 2 offers on schopol uniforms so I would wait untill then.
Hope this helps.July Win: Nokia 58000

Thanks all - youve been very helpful.
Do the Asda/tescos uniforms last? Ive seen bits in there but havent wanted to get them incase they dont wash up very well or dont last very long. I will definately have al look in Adams aswell.
I got a good deal on a mac from Peacocks the other day, but thats about it!
I have to buy the sweat shirts & PE T shirt directly from the school as they have to have a logo on them, which is a bit of a pain as they aren't cheap!0

Can recommend Adams trousers - I've bought enough of the reduced ones to see all three of mine (Yr3, Foundation, and not quite there yet) right through KS1 & KS2 as they're one of the few brands that fit them well. I work on 4 pairs for Foundation, reducing to 2 by Yr 3.
Wasn't so impressed with Adams polos - the last lot we had (just before they shut the shops, so assume the same as the current online stock) all shrank up in the first wash. TBH, we went over to shirts for the rest of this year - wash and dry quicker, and so long as the buttons aren't an issue for the child, generally fine with most schools.
For the black trainers - try Brantano - we get Hi-Tec Bronx from there - usually somewhere between £10 and £15 a pair depending on size and current deals - plain black, made for the school markets, and very hardwearing. Newitts also carry them (Quidco).
BTW - it'a good they won't allow plimsolls - it's believed they can be bad for young feet when worn for long periods. DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0

I buy from M&S or Asda/George Online. Both are good quality and value for money.0

Hmmm, just checked on George on-line & the trousers only show from 5-6 years. My lad is only just 4 & a small one at that, so these will be massive, hopefully they do smaller sizes in the shop.0
