Tesco Double and Triple Charging

I have been triple charged for an on-line grocery order that I placed in May. When I realised this from my bank statement I queried this with their main Customer Service Department on the 0845 number.

The first chap put me on hold for 5 minutes and either cut me off or never came back to me. I phoned again and spoke to a woman who said they knew about this, they were in the process of phoning people affected (this was more than 14 days after the money had been taken from my bank account) and that they would process a refund.

I have since found out from a source within Tesco that they DO NOT phone customers to tell them when they have been double or triple charged (triple is unusual apparently) and they WAIT UNTIL YOU PHONE TO COMPLAIN BEFORE THEY PROCESS A REFUND. If you do not realise or do not check your bank statements and so do not request a refund, you WONT GET ONE.

I am going to write to Tesco Head Office to complain about this, as this seems to be to sound like obtaining money by deception. They did not apologise for taking nearly £250 extra from my bank, nor have they offered any goodwill gesture.

Beware of Tesco home delivery service is my advice - or at least, check your bank statements thoroughly.

Comments

  • although I cannot comment on your situation I get so annoyed when companies make you pay for calls to 0845 or 0871 numbers. I recently found a fantastic site that will give you alternative numbers to ring. I have saved this site to my favourites & used it many times. take a look
