hi guys, i am really stuck with this one. my pc was running great until just recently, now i keep getting a pop up saying there is no network connectivity and the network cable is unplugged? It is happening so often now, probably once every 15 mins of internet surfing. i only run one pc which is plugged direct to the (virgin media) modem via ethernet. I am not very techie minded and tried ringing virgin media for help, but they say my connection is fine?
any ideas guys? im scratching my head with this and its driving me mad so any ideas would be gratefullly recieved... thanks

hi there
you checked both ends of the cable are ok?

If you can still surf OK, click on the Local Area Connection icon in the system tray, Properties and then uncheck "Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity". Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

First thing is to check the Network cable, basically take it out of back of the PC and Virgin box and put it back in.
Then change the cable, It might be a duff network cable.Laters

If it's a recent occurence then it could also be:
1) You have spyware or a virus. Look on the sticky notes here for how to check and remove it.
or
2) Your cable modem is overheating (Virgin customer by any chance? Ah yes just spotted you are). Turn it off for a few minutes and check the ventilation holes are not obstructed. Ours seems to drop connectivity if it's left on for any length of time. Putting it on a timer switch has fixed the issue (and saved money)
If that doesn't fix it then it's probably a hardware fault.0
