faulty xbox 360

Tbh if you cant remember when you bought it you could well have bought a 2nd hand console when many stores sell 2nd hand gaming products
If you hadnt realised it was 2nd hand it would be your own fault.
Your only benefit is that as its under 6 months its up to the retailer to prove it wasnt faulty at purchase although xbox live records could do this.0 -

What utter bull.
Since when did Sainsburys sell second hand stuff?
ANd the OP has already said he has established when he bought the item.
Read the flipping posts for crying out loud.0 -
1) I Misssed the mention of Sainsbury's
2) After being 3 months out first time. We have only just hit June now so 50% out isnt exactly a small case of being out
I am sure if he presents Microsoft with his receipt it will be sorted no bother without spending weeks arguing SOGA with sainsbury's customer services or wasting time with trading standards.
Its most likely the xbox sat in a stock room for a long time and thus the serial number relates to an old batch.0 -

how can the serial number relate to an old batch when each xbox 360 has its own unique serial number,0 -
The batch has probably been sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Thus microsoft manufactured it some time ago.
Sainsbury's have then finally sold it.
If he produces hiss receipt I have no doubt it will be repaired quickly and accompanied by a free gift.
I know that my own xbox purchased at Xmas was one that had been sitting since before they rejigged the line up almost a year before.0 -

yes im aware of that but the warranty provided from microsoft should start from the date the customer bought said item and not 1 year before,0 -
And howw will Microsoft knoww when it was bought without the receipt.
Microsoft if they use the same system have you go online. type in your details then send out a collection note. The system will no doubt have the serial numbers linked to manufacture as it would be impossible to record when each different serial number was sold.
If the OP phones them and tell thems the details and that he has a receipt it will get fixed.0
