how do i connect mp3 player to car cd player

ive recently bought a samsung mp3 player. ive got a 3.5mm jack plug cable which connects it to the socket in my vauxhall corsa. When i switch it on tho, the display on the car says "no cd". ive read the handbook and it says something about cd mp3? does that mean it only plays cd's with mp3 tracks on? i thought it was as simple as plugging it in, and playing thru the stereo speakers in my car!
any help would be appreciated!!

if it has a 3.5 jack then it can play mp3's

you just need to change the players input

    for example

for radio you go to tuner

for cd's you go to cd

so for pm3 you need to go to aux

Good advice to choose aux on the tuner.

You may also need to set the MP3 player from headphones to line out.

Mine has a setting on one of the menus, some ipods use the docking station as line out and not the headphone socket.

Read your mp3 manual for more info.

You could purchase for around £10 an FM transmitter that plugs into your mp3 headphone socket and transmits the signal to your car radio. Like this

i have cd mp3 in my corsa, all it means is that instead burning your music to cd change your settings so it burns to data disk, this means you get more on a cd and you get artist and song displayed. just remember when burning your disk to have your songs in mp3 format.

ive worked with car stereos for a few years now

that ipod line out stuff is different to this aux jack

basically, if it outputs noise through headphones

it outputs sound through the stereo

think of the car as a big pair of headphones

except your in them not them in you!

I've tried a couple of these as my car radio has no socket and they really aren't very good. The RF output is quite low and a strong local signal can swamp them plus the output frequency isn't very stable and the radio can drift off.

The only way I managed to get one to work satisfactorily was to remove the car aerial which is very inconvenient. The other was pretty much useless whatever I did. I don't bother with either now and if I want to listen I just use the earphones.

The other problem with them Kwikbreaks, is that its very rare to find one that actually transmits in stereo at a decent price.
I'd also guess they were illegal under this countries ridiculous broadcasting laws.

The one I purchased transmits in stereo FM, ive had no issues with it, no interference and a pretty decent range (10 metres) which is apt for any vehicle. It cost me £14 but was about 4 years ago, I still use it flawlessly to this day.

The laws have since been adjusted for such products to be used within your car or home.

The fact that it's old is probably why it works well. The main problem with the ones I had was low power which is probably what the regulations demanded. FM radios will put up with a signal that is a bit off frequency so long as it is sufficiently strong.

This is all pretty academic to the original poster though as his radio has a socket specifically for MP3 players and it is just a case of plugging it in and setting up the radio to use the socket in some way.
