in Credit cards
As mentioned in Martin's newsletter today BMI are offering 20,000 free BMI air miles when you sign up and spend on their Classic credit card. However the link distributed in the newsletter seems to be wrong...

...as on this page the 20,000 mile offer isn't mentioned. However after a bit of searching I found the correct page...

...on which it is mentioned and is part of the form itself. It says in the T&Cs that you have to use the right form in order to have access to the offer.

The attention-grabbing headline of Martin's weekly newsletter this morning was 'Free return flight to Russia' and the BMI link that the OP pasted above.
Can't see anything to do with Russia though...DFW Nerd 0350 -
BMI is part of the star alliance and hence the miles can be use on one of the star alliance in this case Martin was probably lookin at the "FUREST DESTINATION" you can use the points with, which would be Russia, you will fly on Luthansa airline. (fly through Munich.) AT least did when I did it to meet my wife last time. Little tip unless they change it, the connection is "TIGHT". Other person on other dicussion said if they sign up to it, do they need to join up first to the flyer scheme. No if you read the T&C it say that you are auto enroll.0

here are all the countries you can fly to with the extra 20,000 points
zone 1 UK, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland
zone 2 Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Moldavia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain (including Balearics), Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine,Yugoslavia
from zone 1 to zone 1
12000 = get a ticket
(6000 + £40) = use some points and pay £40 to get a ticket
from zone 1 to zone 2
20000
(10000 + £70) = use some points and pay £70 to get a ticket0 -
Yes, BMI is a member of the Star Alliance partnership - along with 15 other airlines from aorund the world.
When you sign up for the Credit Card you are automatically signed up with BMI's Frequent Flyer Programme. One of the benefits of this is that any 'miles' earned on this can be used with any of the Star Alliance partners.
In the case of BMI's Frequent Flyer Programme I think the 'miles' can also be used on Virgin as well.
Remember, though, you have to spend on the credit card within 90 days to get the 20,000 miles. Any spend on the card also earns 1.5 miles for each pound spent.0 -
There will be better availability through bmi than through a star alliance partner. I know this from experience.0
