Mortgage Offer - Delay WOOLWICH

Our chain is allegedly being delayed by the issue of a mortgage offer, the buyer at the bottom of the chain is syaing that the Woolwich will not tell them when their mortgage offer will be issued - is there any way anyone else can "chase" the woolwich i.e. an estate agent or a solicitor from further up the chain?

we have been told by th epeople we are buying from [top of the chain] that they will readvertise their house if we do not exchange by 7 april

Our buyer is with the Woolwich (excuse the pun!) and we've been waiting for ages for a survey even. Their mortgage application went in on 6th March and we're still waiting. Our sales progressor says that because our buyers have gone directly to them, she can't do much because of data protection law. However, she seems to have put the fear of God into our buyers who have obviously called their mortgage advisor (at the branch, I assume) who has called our sales progressor and promised to chase it up and said we should hopefully receive a call sometime today with a date.

Maybe the buyer at the bottom of your chain could get someone from the Woolwich to make a reassurance call to an agent up the chain too?

Our sales negotiator seems to think that the Woolwich are notoriously slow. I hope you get some news soon. In fact, I hope I get some news soon too! :D

    You are right Doozergirl,

The Woolwich are notoriously slow and have a reputation for bad customer service of the last 10 years or so. Yes yes yes we all know that they will do it well sometimes before the 'usual' broker bashing squad recount their excellent experiences with the Woolwich.

They go through phases of offering fantastic rates, then become snowed under with applications they cannot cope with.

The woolwich will not take a call from anyone other than the applicant or his broker (if using one).

They caused us to go over our new build exchange deadline, delaying the first person in our chain over confirmation of wording in their contract. Apparently they never answer the phone even to solicitors (or should that be especially to solicitors). Luckily the additional two weeks didn't cause a problem and we finally exchanged.

    Cheers.

    Oh heck.

I was so excited that I just got the call for the survey (tomorrow morning, yippeee!) but I'm now understanding that we could encounter more problems with the Woolwich, but we might not.

Can't wait for some more stories :wall:

Careful, robwend - he gets a bit frisky if you talk to him like that. Especially now he knows you're a laydee ;)
