Starting my own business teaching spanish

I would advertise/start a blog emphasising the career benefits of a second language: isn't it something like an extra couple of grand a year on average for every language you speak to fluency? If you dig around you can probably find statistics to quote. You could also set up a site to teach remotely, there is a guy who does this with a blog called something like 'travelling hobo'.0

Thank you all, I am taking everything into consideration, i will advertise in the newspaper too.
I need to get my prices sorted first.
maybe i can try first with something like PROMOTION
£12 x 1 hs in a group ( 3max)
£18 x 1 hs one to one.
to see how it goes... maybe for a month... and then try full price.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -
How about translation services too? I know it's harder without a professional translation qualification, but if you offer a lower rate (and get appropriate insurance) small businesses might want their websites/marketing materials translating into Spanish. You could emphasize all the up and coming South American Spanish-speaking economies that are going to be the engine for economic recovery (allegedly).0

Hi
My children go to spanish classes - have done since age 4 and they love it. Their teacher also teaches me at £17 per hour.
She uses a system of songs, spanish bingo and childrens books - it's fantastic - the company name is Hablas Palabras -
Hope this helps.0 -
I know yo said that you approached schools and that they weren't interested, but this may be due to a lack of funds/ time. Have you thought about offering to run an afterschool club? At my son's old school a Spanish lady came in after school for an hour an taught the kids with a mixture of games, songs etc. They each paid £2 for the session and there were probably about 20 kids there. Even if you split the proceeds with the school, you would still end up with £20 for an hours work. There is a big push in schools to provide more after school activities and as they need to provide language tuition too they might be more interested than if you go in during school (day) times.
If the schools aren't interested, maybe you could consider doing something like this yourself. A Spanish kids club?
Good luck- if you were closer I'd book you!0 -

How about teaching in an online course as well? Maybe you could just teach basic words online to get by on holiday and then teach more Spanish in the home tutoring service? You could make videos to put on a website teaching people how to speak the language as well. It's just an idea, though. All the people you tutor could then have a place to go to after classes if they needed any help that way. You could possibly charge for a membership to the website..Sometimes.I.Wonder.Why.I'm.Still.Here..Sometimes.I.Think.I'm.Going.Crazy.0
